Diablo Women's Chorale Presents A Lovely Way to Spend an Evening

Celebrate spring with the Diablo Women's Chorale’s (DWC) presentation of A Lovely Way to Spend an Evening. This musical experience is filled with memories, dreams, hope, and the promise of love, blending nostalgia with contemporary flair and performed with live musicians, including the Stephen Evans Cello Choir with Joe Magdalena II.

Director Erin Fishler infuses passion into each piece from her vast performance and teaching experience, including recording backing vocals on a track of the Grammy-nominated album, “With Love” by Miami arranger Jeremy Fox. Accompanist Rebecca Hass contributes skill, talent, and experience as an accomplished pianist, teacher, and composer to elevate every performance.

Stephen Evans, former accompanist for the DWC and director of the cello choir since 2003, has contributed to several musical ensembles, string quartets, and local symphonies. Joe Magdalena II, the current Artist in Residence of the Stephen Evans Cello Choir and East Bay Chamber Orchestra, showcases his classical training, artistry, and rich musical career as the composer and arranger for several songs in our program.

Established in 1942 amidst the trials of World War II, the DWC has been a musical legacy in the San Francisco East Bay since its inaugural performance in 1943. Now in our 82nd year, the DWC thrives as a secular choir that continues to attract women from around the East Bay who share a passion for spreading joy through music.

The DWC will perform on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 7:00 pm and Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 3:00 pm, at Bortin Hall, Mt Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church, 55 Eckley Lane, Walnut Creek, 94596.
